Having closed its doors to the public back in December 2013 and lying dormant and neglected ever since, the future of The Dinton Hermit is now looking bright again. We started work in September on a sizeable redevelopment of this historic landmark which will entail the repair, refurbishment and extension of the venue.
Starting off with the bar and restaurant areas, these have been extended to include a new vaulted ceiling conservatory as well as some additional informal seating in the bar area. During the refurbishment, great care has been taken to maintain the original features of the building whilst sensitively creating a contemporary feel that blends the old with the new. This work was completed at the end of November and the pub officially reopened its doors on November 30th!!
Work has now started on the outside areas. The large garden is being landscaped to create several distinct and attractive seating areas, providing the opportunity to eat and drink outside. A wildlife friendly hedge has been planted incorporating 10 varieties of hedge plants with flowers and fruits that will attract birds and insects. A winding path of wooden raised beds has been constructed that will house our kitchen garden and we’re looking forward to getting the planting underway.
There are also plans to refurbish the accommodation which will comprise a total of 11 rooms. We’ll bring you more information about this as the plans take shape.
