Having closed its doors to the public back in December 2013 and lying dormant and neglected ever since, the future of The Dinton Hermit is now looking bright again. We started work in September 2019 on a sizable redevelopment of this historic landmark which will entail the repair, refurbishment and extension of the venue.

Starting off with the bar and restaurant areas, these have been extended to include a new vaulted ceiling conservatory as well as some additional informal seating in the bar area. During the refurbishment, great care has been taken to maintain the original features of the building whilst sensitively creating a contemporary feel that blends the old with the new. This work was completed at the end of November and the pub officially reopened its doors on November 30th, 2019!!

Work then started on the outside areas early Spring 2020. The large garden was landscaped to create several distinct and attractive seating areas. A wildlife friendly hedge was planted incorporating 10 varieties of hedge plants with flowers and fruits to attract birds and insects. A winding path of wooden raised beds was constructed to house our kitchen garden where we grow a wide variety of vegetables, salad items, herbs and edible flowers including courgettes, runner beans, lettuce, spinach, dill, basil and nasturtiums.

We then moved on to the development of our new entrance which leads directly off Main Road, Ford into the pub’s large car park.

Early Spring 2021, we completed the second patio area which lies opposite the entrance to the pub. Aside from the paved seating area, we installed a petanque pitch for our customers to enjoy some friendly competition! During the Spring, Summer & Autumn, there are tables and chairs on both patio areas, providing the opportunity to eat and drink outside.

Towards the end of 2021, we began the refurbishment of the accommodation which comprises a total of 8 beautifully decorated and well equipped rooms. This project was completed in January 2022 when we opened The Barns (5 rooms) and The Eaves (2 rooms) at which point we also started offering a breakfast menu at the pub.
